An Afternoon with Music Historian, Michael Lasser
Listening to History….
How Music tells the Story of America
4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24
University of South Florida-Sarasota-Manatee
Michael Lasser doesn’t sing, doesn’t dance and can’t act, but knows everything there is to know about American music!
He is a nationally-known lecturer, broadcaster, author, critic and teacher and will add new dimensions to your teaching.
In his presentation, Illuminating History, Mr. Lasser will feature music from the 1920s – 1940s, focusing on World War I and II, and how lyrics shaped and reflected the emotional intensity of this time period. A special highlight will demonstate how a single song fits differently in two different decades.
Presented by The Florida Center for Partnerships for Arts Integrated Teaching (PAiNT) and the Arts & Cultural Alliance
