What is Artscape?  

Artscape is an innovative housing concept designed specifically for artists, performers, and employees within the creative community. Born from a unique collaboration between the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County (the Alliance), One Stop Housing, the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, and other philanthropic and cultural organizations, this new vision will honor Sarasota’s heritage well rooted in its identity as Florida’s Cultural Coast®.

How is Artscape being funded?  

The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County is leading the campaign in collaboration with One Stop Housing. The Alliance is in the early phases of philanthropic opportunities with individuals, businesses, organizations and foundation support. Donations of all levels are accepted and directly support the development and operation of Artscape. If you’re interested in speaking about a lead gift with space benefits, please contact advancement@sarasotaarts.org.  

Who will live at Artscape?  

Artscape is specifically targeted at providing affordable housing options to artists, performers, and employees within the creative community. 

My (arts) organization is interested being more involved, what’s our next step?  

As the project’s financial details and development timeline have become more fully defined, the Alliance looks forward to engaging interested organizations in deeper conversations about potential investment and involvement. 

How many units will be available?   

This vibrant community offers 75 affordable units where residents will live, practice, and perform, all in one place. Anchored by a gallery and performance space operated by the Alliance, it will be an artistic home for all to display and showcase their work. Units types will include: studio, studio with a den, 1 bedroom, and 1 bedroom with a den. 

Who is the builder?   

One Stop Housing will serve as the developer and builder of Artscape. 

When will the project be completed?
