Thank you to everyone who took the ArtspaceSRQ Survey! The survey is now CLOSED.

To All Artists, Creatives, Arts and Cultural Sector Leaders and Creative Business Owners:
We want new affordable artist live/work housing, private and shared studios and creative work and support spaces in Sarasota and we need your help to advance this goal!
Who is involved? The Arts and Culture Alliance of Sarasota County and national nonprofit Artspace Projects are leading the feasibility study phase.
What’s the idea? Affordable artist live/work space in a mixed-use arts facility is a possible outcome and the primary focus of this study, but survey results could inspire a variety of new independent space opportunities including non-residential commercial and community spaces (e.g. studio/workspace, office, retail, performance, exhibition, etc.). Spaces may be private or shared; and available for long-term or short-term rental or on an as needed basis. Your input will influence the prioritization of the types of spaces and amenities that will be considered. (The survey closed on December 13, 2017).
Some Background: In April 2014, Artspace visited Sarasota and a series of community meetings were held to elicit feedback and gauge interest in this idea. The response was positive! The next critical step was to conduct surveys to determine if there is enough demand to warrant new space and if so, the nature of that space (type, amenities, features, size and affordability). Resulting data can help attract funders and partners, and give Artspace and private developers information critical to advancing new space.
Artspace in Sarasota Timeline:
PHASE I: April 2014 Artspace held 10 public workshops and meetings in Sarasota, FL. Artspace approves Sarasota as a viable location for a project. Community members raised $45K to advance the project.
PHASE II: The survey. The ArtspaceSRQ Survey closed on December 13, 2017. Conducted a 60-day online survey for artists and art stakeholders within 50 miles of downtown Sarasota. The survey will help evaluate local needs and cost of living.
PHASE III: Survey analysis expected soon.
