In June, Americans for the Arts completed the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 Study (AEP6), the sixth national study of the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture industry. The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County served as a partnering organization to administer the study and collect surveys throughout Sarasota County. Nationally, data was collected from more than 16,000 organizations and 224,000 audience members.

Join us, on Thursday, October 12 at the Sarasota Opera House from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, as we release these highly anticipated findings for both Sarasota County and the Nation. Doors will open at 4:00 PM, followed by a reception starting at 4:15 PM in the lobby and courtyard of the Sarasota Opera House. Guests will receive 1 drink ticket, passed hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will also be available. The official program will begin at 5:00 PM.

Sponsored by Gulf Coast Community Foundation, this gathering of area arts and business leaders and passionate community members, will serve as an opportunity to not only share this extremely valuable data, but also advocate for the continued support of arts and cultural communities.

A thriving community is powered by the arts. Arts and cultural experiences define who we are and how we live. Together, we weave Sarasota County and Florida’s Cultural Coast into a vibrant tapestry of creativity, providing opportunities and space for all to experience the arts. The results from AEP6 will give us a current picture of where Sarasota County stands on a national scale. The data provided will also show how much arts organizations spend in our community per year, the number of jobs provided, direct expenditures, as well as tourist attendance. The Alliance believes that in sharing this data at a community gathering, will help to ensure a united force among our arts and business leaders, as well as the community at large to continue advocating and advancing our arts powered economy.
