Thursday, January 16, 2020, 10:30 a.m. – Street Fairs of Paris and Their Carnival Folk in Stories and Photographs, 1900s

Writer, educator, and arts patron Charlotte Perret shares the fascinating stories behind the creation of her book, At Their Doorstep – an historic and pictorial account of the itinerant street fairs that brought mass entertainment to the neighborhoods of early 20th-century Paris. While residing in Paris in the early 1980s, Ms. Perret went directly to the few surviving carnival folk who owned and operated these great game stands, carousels, and performance venues. It is from these first-hand interviews and hundreds of never-before-published photographs that she tells the story of this now vanished culture. $25/person for the program; add $29 and stay for lunch. Register here.
