Eric Watters presents “Some Kind of Wonderful, the Brill Building Era”
April 15 : 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm$30.00
What do Carole King & Gerry Goffin, Neil Sedaka & Howard Greenfield, Burt Bacharach & Hal David, and Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller have in common? They all spent copious amounts of time in the Brill Building located at 1619 Broadway in the heart of New York’s music district. Under one roof were songwriters, publishers, arrangers, musicians, a demo studio, record companies, and radio promoters. During rock ‘n’ roll’s early hayday from 1958 to 1965, seven prominent songwriting teams worked in the Brill Building writing hits for The Drifters (“Some Kind of Wonderful”), Bobby Darin, Connie Francis, The Righteous Brothers, Dionne Warwick, Bobby Vee (“Take Good Care of My Baby”), The Crystals, The Shirelles and the Chiffons. Join your host Eric Watters for a fascinating walk down memory lane as he sings songs and tells stories of an era bursting with creative energy.
