La Musica presents “Truthful and Timeless: The Continuing Legacy of Chamber Music”

Chamber music – sometimes referred to as “the music of friends” – is one of the purest forms of music. Early chamber works were composed for amateurs to be played at home and enjoyed with friends. Only later, courts or well-to-do homes might hire professionals to perform the increasingly difficult music that came to be composed for small ensembles. Later still, these works made their way to the concert stage. The skills required of chamber musicians are different from those required of a soloist, or a member of a larger ensemble. Harold J. Bott, Jr. will lead the discussion of these and other topics with panelists Bruno Giuranna, Derek Han, Dmitri Atapine, Christine J. Lee and the audience.

This event is free, and reservations are not needed.
