Seeing the Invisible

The most ambitious and expansive exhibition to date of contemporary artworks created with augmented reality (AR) technology continues at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point campus through September 2023. Seeing the Invisible features works by more than a dozen international artists such as Ai Weiwei and El Anatsui—including several artists’ first work in AR. Visitors engage with Seeing the Invisible via an app designed for the exhibition and downloadable to smartphones and tablets. This innovative show is on view simultaneously at several other gardens and museums in different countries, fostering collaboration between institutions, artists, and audiences and highlighting the power of art to connect people around the world.
