Call for Entry: ConTEXT III

May 8, 2020 – June 19, 2020
Deadline to enter: March 16th, 2020

The Call for Entry:
The Foundry Art Centre is seeking submissions for “ConTEXT III,” an all media exhibition focusing on the written word’s role in the visual arts. The power of words cannot be overstated. Contemporary society is saturated with media and this exhibition showcases how intertwined the literary and visual arts are. We must ask ourselves how the words we read, and how we read them, impacts our understanding of the world. We ask artists ‘What happens when the visual arts and literary arts are fused?’ All media is considered for submission.

Levi Sherman is an interdisciplinary artist in Columbia, MO. He received his MFA in Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago in 2015 and a BFA in Visual Communications from the UNiversity of Arizona in 2012. Manifested in print, performance, and publishing, his practice is firmly rooted at the intersection of text and image. His artist’s books are held in collections including the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection. His critical writing can be found in AfterImage, Full Bleed, the Journal of Artists’ Books, and elsewhere in print and online.
