Calling All Artists!
Exhibit Opportunity for the 2018 – 2019 Season

Juried art exhibits at the Center for Arts and Humanities will run from September 17 through May 15 for the 2018-2019 season.

Artists who are members of the Arts and Cultural Alliance (more information on membership) and have not exhibited at the Center for the past two years are eligible to apply.  As a member, there is no charge to participate.  The Alliance does request a donation of ten percent of sales from the exhibit.

The Alliance promotes the exhibition and invites Alliance members along with artist’s guests to a reception hosted by the Alliance. All Opening Receptions for the 2017-18 Art Exhibits are are held from 5 – 6:30 P.M. at the Center for Arts and Humanity / Downstairs Conference Rooms, 1226 N. Tamiami Trail

WHAT: Monthly juried art exhibits at the Center for Art and Humanity for the exclusive benefit of our members. (Artist membership is $50.00 per year)

WHY: The purpose of the exhibit is for the exposure of the work of our artist members. They may hold an opening reception with the aid of the Alliance.

WHERE: Exhibits are displayed in the first floor lobby, the first floor conference room and the 3rd floor hallway.

WHEN:  Art exhibits will be hung from September 1 through June 30. They will change on the first business day of the month.

HOW: Exhibits will be offered through a juried review process and will be offered for a specific month. Any artist whose work is not chosen may reapply for the next jury review.

Application Process
All interested member artists must submit an application. Submit digital examples   (including dimensions) of work along with what is proposed for the space.

Selection Process
Applications will be accepted twice annually. For exhibits from September through January, deadline is July 15. For exhibits from February through June, the application deadline is December 15.

Artists may reapply for the next review if their work is not chosen. Same or new works may be submitted at the discretion of the artist.

Three qualified individuals active in the creative arts will be appointed by the Alliance to review applications twice annually. The jury will only review examples of artwork. No information about the artist will be provided.

Number of pieces that can be hung depends on their size. Artists are responsible for the hanging and removal of exhibit during business hours (M-F.9-5). To schedule a tour of the space at the Center, please contact Betty Morris.

Exhibits should be hung on the 1st business day of the month and removed the last business day of the month. To schedule a tour of space, please call Betty Morris at 809-9304. All exhibits require the use of hangars provided by the Alliance. Artists should bring any necessary tools and a step ladder. No pre or post storage is available.

Tags should be placed next to each display with title, dimensions, price and contact info. Blue Sticky Tack is available at most hardware stores for attaching tags.

Artists must provide to the Alliance a list of work hung in the exhibit including title and price and a release form (attached).

Sale of Work
You are encouraged to sell your work during the exhibit. If you sell, it is your decision whether to release the art immediately or at the end of the exhibit. If work is released, please plan to insert another piece for the duration of the exhibit. The Alliance does request a ten percent donation of the sales.

Artists are invited to provide written material about themselves and their work. It may include brochures, business cards, etc. which will be available in the first floor lobby.

Artists are responsible for promoting their exhibit. The Alliance will share information through their channels ( a paragraph describing artist and exhibit should be sent to

Artists may hold an Opening Reception Monday –Thursday between 5 and 7 pm, schedule permitting. Artists are responsible for providing all refreshments, utensils and paper goods.   The Alliance will provide help with the reception. Artists are responsible for promotion and inviting guests. Alliance will announce the reception in ArtBeat. Reception should be coordinated with Alliance.
