City of St. Petersburg seeks artists to design an installation for Sunset Park

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The City of St. Petersburg is seeking Tampa Bay regional artists to design an installation for Sunset Park. New artists or those who have never worked with three dimensional design are encouraged to apply by February 11, 2022.

Artists are invited to submit qualifications for exterior art for Sunset Park, located at 7400 Central Ave. The open space is generally a passive park with gateway marker potential for welcoming visitors from the Gulf Beaches to St. Pete. The park is made up of three distinct parcels with the focus for this project being only on the southernmost piece of the Park which is bounded by Central Avenue, First Avenue South, Sunset Drive S., and Park Street S.

The City seeks artists to design artwork and work with a fabricator to create the artwork as a 3-D form. Artists are encouraged to work as a team with a fabricator. Artists who have never installed a public art sculpture are encouraged to apply and must partner with a fabricator for manufacture and installation. A list of fabricators will be provided to finalists should they not have their own fabricator.
