Congratulations, Harry Moses!
Patriot Plaza Guide, Harry Moses won two Gold Medals at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival Competition! He has been invited to the annual festival which will take place in Kalamazoo, Michigan October 28 – November 3.
Harry shared with us the story of his journey to this significant accomplishment.
“About eight years ago after being at a parade where the people lining the street paid no attention to the color guard passing, I became concerned as to the lack of respect they had for our Flag. Thus I wrote the “I am your Flag” and had a friend put it up on YouTube. It also was performed several times at ” homeowners patriotic functions” It was then included in a mainstage production of the Silver Foxes Folies at Venice Theater as well as traveling road shows. I also performed it for Mayor Holic and the Venice City Council. Last Feb, I got a notice that the National Veteran’s Art Festival was holding a competition in St. Pete so I entered “the Flag” and another one I wrote called the “Folded Flag” and won 4 blue ribbons for dramatic prose, patriotic presentation. By winning the regional competition, they were then entered into the national competition where I won two gold medals and a free trip to Kalamazoo Mi. in Oct at the Miller Auditorium where we will do a show that will be filmed by PBS and shown at a later date. There were over 3600 participants and only 52 finalists. I’m very excited……. 85 and still making it happen.” – Harry Moses
