Culture Collective at Endless Forms

The Sarasota Culture Collective had the opportunity to explore Selby Gardens’ Orchid Show, Endless Forms in an exclusive after hours tour.

Lead by Jeannie Perales Vice President for Museum Exhibits, Learning & Engagement at Selby Gardens and Dr. David Berry, Associate Director, Academic Affairs and Special Projects at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art who curated the exhibition in the Payne Mansion’s Museum of Botany & the Arts, the tour included the incredible beauty of the orchids on display in the Tropical Conservatory, the science of the orchid research, and the intersection of the two in the botanical illustrations and spirit specimens.

The group also learned about the name of the show, Endless Forms, which references the famous final line of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, “from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.”

Culture Collective is a program designed for young adults to experience a variety of local arts and culture with a community. Memberships are still available for the 2018-2019 season.
