Education & Volunteer Coordinator/Manatee Village Historical Park
The Manatee Village Historical Park (MVHP) is a living museum that tells the history of our community’s settlers. Through its collection of restored buildings from Manatee County’s settlement history and educational programming, MVHP offers visitors the ability to experience life in Manatee County before the arrival of modern conveniences such as automobiles and electricity. The Education & Volunteer Coordinator position is a full-time, non-supervisory position reporting to the Supervisor of the Manatee Village Historical Park. This position serves a critical role in the recruitment and retention of volunteers and the coordination and administration of MVHP’s educational initiatives, including school field trips, group tours, guest speaking engagements, and Manatee History Day.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Museum Studies, Public History, or related fields.
Knowledge of basic principles of education or related classroom experience
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information in engaging and creative ways
Excellent writing, training, presenting and public speaking skills
Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite
Some experience at a museum, historic house, or other educational setting
Ability to work well with others and maintain a professional manner using tact, initiative, good judgment, and confidentiality.

Plans, schedules and orchestrates all school tour and educational outreach programs, including Manatee History, an affiliate of National History Day
Responds to all tour, field trip, guest speaker, and other inquiries in a timely manner
Responsible for all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training and retention
Participates in social media initiatives and messaging for educational programs and History Day in collaboration with the Special Events and Marketing Coordinator
Assists with all operations of the historic site
Assists with all aspects of educational programming and special events
Assists with production of relevant exhibits
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
