Elementary Students Meet Their Friends in Ghana
A shared book, “Clifford Goes to the Circus” served as the ice breaker as second graders at Alta Vista Elementary met (virtually) their second grade friends in Ghana. Since both groups had read the book, all of the children began the conversation wearing red clown noses! At Alta Vista, local clowns performed for all of the students followed by the Ghana students playing the drums and dancing.
After the sharing of entertainment, the students began to ask questions of each other. Children became excited when they discovered commonalities such as a favorite school subject (math) or common household chores (doing the dishes).
