Event & Marketing Coordinator/Manatee Village

Job Summary
The Manatee Village Historical Park (MVHP) is a living museum that tells the history of our community’s settlers. Through its collection of restored buildings from Manatee County’s settlement history and educational programming, MVHP offers visitors the ability to experience life in Manatee County before the arrival of modern conveniences such as automobiles and electricity. The Special Events Coordinator position is a full-time, non-supervisory position reporting to the Supervisor of the Manatee Village Historical Park. This position serves a critical role in reserving and overseeing private rentals, developing and implementing public programming, and leading marketing efforts for Manatee Village Historical Park.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art Studies, History, or related field; or equivalent experience
One year of recent relevant events planning and events management experience
One year of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to apply acute attention to detail inmaintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment
Basic mathematical aptitude, as well as alpha and numeric filing skills are required
Ability to write concisely, with clarity and proper grammar
Proficient in graphic design and promotional photography
Working knowledge of current non-profit marketing principles and proficient in use of social media
Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite, Adobe suite, and website design
Some experience at a museum, historic house, or other educational setting
Ability to work well with others and maintain a professional manner using tact, initiative, and good judgment

Essential Functions

Provides excellent customer service to all in person, in email and over the phone; is approachable, helpful and personable; and answers questions knowledgeably and with patience
Responds to all private rental and other inquiries in a timely manner
Plans, schedules and orchestrates all public programming, including but not limited to workshops, festivals, and lecture series
Reserves and oversees private rentals and scheduling of event security
Develops and implements branding in coordination with the Supervisor
Markets and promotes the historic site through tasks including website design and maintenance, social media, press releases, flyers, media interviews; etc.
Assists with all operations of the historic site
Assists with all aspects of educational programming, including assisting in field trips and Manatee History Day, an affiliate of National History Day
Assists with all aspects of volunteer recruitment and retention
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job, including some evenings and weekends

Ability to lift 25lbs and push/pull up to 40lbs in a cart
