Meet our new Director of Grants and Advocacy

“We are so excited to welcome Angelica Hull for this newly crafted role,” CEO Brian Hersh said. “Her talents will help lead our efforts in ensuring Sarasota County continues to be an arts powered economy through continuous advocacy with crucial stakeholders. This brand new position will allow the Alliance to cultivate additional resources through new grant opportunities, while overseeing current grant making initiatives including the Tourist Development Cultural/Arts program.”

Angelica Hull has dedicated her career to breaking down barriers to access in the fields of arts, museums, and nonprofits. A Sarasota native, she is devoted to enhancing the quality of life and family environment within the community. Angelica holds an MA in the History of Art and Architecture from Boston University, as well as a BA with majors in Anthropology, Art History, and Classics and minors in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Miami.

Her professional journey commenced at the Miami Children’s Museum, where she developed family-oriented programs and introduced the museum’s pioneering initiative catering to children with special needs. In 2015, she returned to Sarasota to facilitate family programs at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. In 2019, Angelica joined the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, progressing through various roles where she oversaw equity-centered and access-driven grantmaking. She also spearheaded a community initiative offering rental and utility assistance.

Angelica is enthusiastic about leveraging her grantmaking proficiency, artistic passion, and unwavering community dedication as she joins the Arts and Cultural Alliance in 2023. Outside of her professional pursuits, she takes pleasure in exploring Sarasota’s ever-evolving landscape with her husband, two daughters, and their black lab, Beau. Angelica’s fervor for exploration extends to her travel and hiking endeavors, including notable achievements like completing the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu in Peru and the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across Spain.
