SARASOTA, FL (March 10, 2026) – The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County and One Stop Housing announce Artscape, an innovative affordable housing community designed specifically for artists, performers, and employees within the creative sector. Located at 2309-2329 N Tamiami Trail, the development represents a unique collaboration between the Alliance, One Stop Housing, cultural organizations, and local philanthropy to address a growing need in the region.
Artscape will offer 75 affordable units, managed by One Stop Housing, where residents can live, practice, and perform, all in one place. The development will be anchored by a gallery and event space operated by the Alliance, providing an artistic home where residents and the broader community can display and showcase their work throughout the year. More than just housing, Artscape fosters artistic expression and collaboration within a community led by creativity for this generation and the next.
“The arts are at the very heart of what makes Sarasota such a special place to live. We are proud to partner with the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota to develop Artscape, a community designed specifically to support our creative workforce. This development will provide more than affordable housing; it will create a dynamic environment where artists can live, practice, and perform. Artscape will also serve as the new home for the Alliance, hosting events and exhibits throughout the year and becoming a true hub for Sarasota’s artistic community,” said Mark Vengroff, Managing Partner, One Stop Housing.
Artscape directly addresses Sarasota’s growing affordability crisis, offering studio and one-bedroom options to artists, making Sarasota an encouraging option for the industry that has helped shape our region’s identity. Artscape has received early philanthropic support, including a $1.2 million grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. Artscape is seeking additional contributions to reach its $10 million fundraising goal. Donations at various levels provide benefits, including the opportunity to prioritize residential units for specific populations, such as individual artists or employees of a nonprofit partner organization.
“Sarasota has long called itself Florida’s Cultural Coast™ and Artscape represents a meaningful step toward aligning our policies with our values, ensuring that the artists who add color to our spaces, the performers who grace our stages, and the educators who inspire the next generation have a place to call home in the community they enrich,” said Brian Hersh CEO of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County. “Sarasota has been the home for artists for decades; it’s part of our legacy, and we’re excited to continue to take bold steps to keep and expand upon. Let’s keep Sarasota a home for creativity, not just a destination for it.”
