Prospective auditioners should sign up for an audition by either contacting The Players Box Office or signing up online at and “purchasing a ticket” for the time slot desired from the “Buy Tickets’ tab. Auditioners should come prepared with a one-minute long monologue if it is a straight play. If the show is a musical, a monologue as well as a 1 minute song and clothes for movement will be required. Shows, dates and descriptions are listed below: May 20, 2017, 2-5pm, The Crucible, Callbacks: May 21, 2017 at 6pm, Show Run Dates: August 31-Sept 10, 2017, Story: In the insular, Puritan community of 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, a group of young girls are found dancing in the woods, and immediately fall ill. When no earthly cause can be determined, the citizens of Salem suspect that some more sinister force may be at hand. The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s remarkable 1953 play, remains as relevant as ever, and carries with it a stern warning: in every community torn by suspicion, the most dangerous threat may be the community itself. June 26, 2017 6-7:45pm, The Players New Play Festival Festival, Dates: July 31-Aug. 4, 2017, Description: Local playwrights submit brand new, never before-performed plays in this annual competition. Five are performed in readers-style theater by actors under the leadership of a local director with a talk back following the show to help give the playwright some constructive criticism. One play is chosen as the winner and a year later, after a few revisions, is performed with full sets and costumes. Those interested are asked to bring one one-minute long monologue (not necessarily memorized) to auditions. July 29, 2017, 10am-3:45pm, Broadway Season Auditions (3 Fall Shows) – The Will Rogers Follies, Show Run Dates: Sept 28 – Oct. 15, 2017, Callbacks: July 30, Description: Directed by Cory Boyas with musical director Alan J. Cory, anyone who has heard of Will Rogers knows his signature phrase: “I’ve never met a man I didn’t like.” This philosophy is the jumping off point for this showy piece of Americana that follows his many accomplishments as well as his tumultuous personal life. Moon Over Buffalo, Show Run Dates: Nov. 2-19, 2017, Callbacks: August 13, Description: Directed by Pam Wiley in the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, this theatrical farce centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, the nearly washed-up stage duo receives word that they might just have one last shot at stardom! The 1940s Radio Hour Show Run Dates: Dec. 7-23, 2017, Callbacks: August 20, Description: Directed by Berry Ayers and musical director Alan J. Corey just in time for the holiday season, comes this marvelously theatrical show! This lively and big band sounding musical delivers a delicious slice of ‘a live radio broadcast from NYC’ in December of 1942. Enjoy the spirit of that bygone era when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
