Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Realize Bradenton’s strategic communication plan that integrates marketing, public relations, print, new media, social media, and events. Oversight of all communication platforms and collateral with a focus on building relationships with donors, attendees, volunteers, influencers, foundations, and community members, as well as leading the story telling process to showcase our community’s people, places, possibilities, arts, culture, heritage, and food.
Create and implement a strategic communication plan that advances Realize Bradenton (RB) and results in community benefit
Create systems that connect RB’s websites, social media channels, videos, image assets, blogs, and events to effectively complement each other as well as connect with key audiences
Oversee ongoing website development for RealizeBradenton.com, WalkBradenton.com, and BradentonBluesFestival.org
Develop and execute content and stories that informs and engages key audiences: volunteers, donors, event attendees, businesses, visitors, and all residents, with a focus on Millennial and Gen Z generations
Curate all content and design to ensure quality, clarity, and brand consistency
Develop programmatic themes that guide the editorial calendar and support RB events, civic engagement, and entrepreneurial initiatives
Write persuasive, lively copy for digital channels and media releases
Coordinate with existing media contacts and cultivate relationships with editors, bloggers, and online influencers
Collect, interpret, and report analytics to determine effectiveness and on-going improvements
Work with the Event Manager to create promotions and day-of materials needed for events
Oversee the distribution of print materials to partners and businesses
Develop and manage the budget for all communications
Develop ways to position Realize Bradenton as a thought leader in placemaking, place branding, and civic engagement
A successful candidate is organized, flexible, and responsive and enjoys working in a collaborative and creative environment.
A Bachelor’s degree or certification in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Design, or a relevant field with 1-3 years of experience.
Proven ability to be agile and prioritize based on changing needs, new opportunities, and agreed upon results.
A passion for bringing diverse people together to build a vibrant, healthy Bradenton using arts, culture, heritage, and food.
These are important:
Ability to align communication strategies and tactics with both organizational and fund raising objectives
Strong visual aesthetic and excellent writing skills tailored to different audiences and multiple platforms
Ability to think really BIG and be hands-on with promotions, projects, and events
Passionate about how to attract, connect, engage, and inspire using a variety of methods such as SEO, AdWords, social media, mobile, website optimization, broadcast, surveys, digital advertising, email, e-news, calls-to-action, collateral, personalized approaches, events, and emerging technologies.
Ability to connect, communicate, and create with people of all generations and backgrounds, and particularly with the Millennial and Gen Z generations
Ability to lead the story collection and sharing process collaboratively with our Event and Community Engagement staff
Experience in managing independent contract services for photography, video, graphic design, social media, and web design
A team member, who can lead projects and work flexible hours to participate in RB events to deepen understanding of our diverse audiences
Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Google Analytics and comfortable using a digital project management system
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Photoshop and or Illustrator
These are a plus:
Strong connections to arts, culture, heritage, and food
Basic knowledge of web coding and design
Interest and ability to quickly learn new software along with CMS and CRM applications
Familiarity with LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, flickr, and Snapchat content and posting
Photography and video experience
