    • Description: Pack your bags! This summer, FST is taking the whole family on a one-of-a-kind musical road trip in On The Road Again, an all-new live performance. Featuring songs like “Country Roads,” “Surfin’ USA,” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas, we’ll celebrate all that makes this country special from sea to shining sea. Join us for an outdoor concert in this summer touring performance as we hit the road with music that has defined the U.S for generations.

  • The Players Studio

    • Description: Join us in education fun themed weekly mini camps and learn musical theatre. Each week culminates in an in studio performance.

    • Description:  Discover the magic of dance with The Sarasota Ballet School this summer. Each weekly camp has a separate theme and will include not only ballet and dance but also crafts and other fun activities.

  • Sarasota Opera

    • Program Title: Sarasota Youth Opera Virtual Summer Camp
    • Dates: June 21 – July 2 (M-F)
    • Age Levels: Ages 8-18
    • Description: Sarasota Youth Opera has opened enrollment for their annual Summer Camp, with plans for a variety of live, interactive Zoom lessons. Sessions will take place from June 21 – July 2, 2021, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The two-week program has a tuition of $150, with tuition assistance available, as well as a reduced price for siblings in the same household. Participants will be shipped music and materials needed for projects. Subjects include Chorus, Acting, Opera 101 (Opera History), Props & Sets, Wigs & Makeup, Costumes, Stage Management, and “Write Your Own Opera.” The classes will be led by professional singers, artists, directors, and technicians. The enrollment deadline is June 1, 2021, with the program open to children aged 8-18. Students will be required to have a free Zoom account, and either a cell phone, computer, laptop, or tablet with a working internet connection. Since 1984, Sarasota Youth Opera has brought opera to young audiences through education and performance opportunities in after-school choruses, mainstage productions, summer workshops, and fully staged Youth Opera productions.

  • Selby Gardens
    • This summer we have our glass show, ‘In Dialogue with Nature: Glass in the Gardens,’ and we have the Florida Highwaymen exhibit, ‘We Dream a World: African American Landscape Painters of Mid-Century Florida, The Highwaymen.” Both run from July 10 to September 26.       • Description: Theatre fun for the little ones! Students will experience singing, dancing, creative dramatics, and technical theatre. Class demonstration on Friday, July 16th @ 10:30 am  
    • 6-week Musical Theatre Experience for grades 5-12, Getting to Know … Once Upon a Mattress
      • June 21 – August 1, Monday – Friday, 1:00- 4:30 p.m.

      • Description: An exciting opportunity to perform in a fully-produced musical on the main stage in The Jervey Theatre! This 6-week experience is designed for actors, singers, and dancers of all levels going into grades 5 through 12. In addition to rehearsing and mounting their production, students will help create some of the technical elements of the show. This musical theatre intensive will take students from auditions through a 5-show run. 
      • About the show: This enchanting tale is based on the classic story of The Princess and the Pea. The music is dazzling. And Princess Winifred’s shenanigans will have you laughing out loud.

  • Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe

    • Program Title: Olmeca Masterclass: From IDEA to STAGE
    • Dates: Saturday June 12th at 11am 
    • Age Levels: High School- Young Adult
    • Description: Independent Artist and Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Fellow will work with emerging artists to explore the needs of self-promotion. Today, most entertainment industries and experts talk about the 50/50 rule: 50% creative / 50% business. In this workshop, learn how to strike the balance and use the creative process in the development of a promotion/marketing plan to take your art to the next level.

  • Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall

    • Program Title: Community Concert with Citizen Artist Olmeca
    • Dates: Saturday June 12th at 11am 
    • Age Levels: All ages
    • Description: Olmeca is a Hip-hop artist, producer and scholar who has been featured on BBC London, Complex Magazine, Noisey, Huffington Post, NPR, Democracy Now and CNN Latino. His music has been featured on various documentaries, including PBS’ “Independence Lens,” and “Two Americans” and a documentary about immigration in Arizona. He has written music for television shows, including “Sons of Anarchy,” “CHANCE,” and “The Mayans,” and he is a teacher of underground Hip-hop in Los Angeles. Noisey Magazine calls Olmeca a “Shaman of the 21st Century.” Olmeca’ s powerful Hip-hop lyrics, backed by a live band featuring Latin American rhythms will get the whole family dancing during this free community performance.

    • Description: Family Friendly activities exploring mindfulness at art.  Van Wezel teaching artist Stevey Jones will host a day of interactive activities ranging from artistic expression, bubble zones, and mindfulness exercises at MLK Park each month!   • WEDU
    • Let’s Learn –  One-hour episodes of Let’s Learn currently are airing at 1:30 each weekday on WEDU, but will move to 1:00 pm beginning June 7 as part of the new summer schedule. The series targets children ages 3-8 and features a strong literacy component along with lessons for social-emotional development, STEM, and the Arts. Segments are presented by teachers, literacy coaches, STEM specialists, and teaching artists. A lesson collection on PBS LearningMedia, features segments from the series along with support materials.
      • WEDU is creating weekly Let’s Learn activity calendars with links to PBS Kids Ready To Learn resources as a complement to each episode. The calendars are available to download on the At-Home learning page: wedu.org/edconnect
    • Camp TV – The Camp TV series targets children ages 5-10 and blends day camp and learning into one hour of fun. The series includes a variety of hands-on activities, virtual field trips, and more.  Camp TV will be added to the summer broadcast schedule beginning June 7 and will air each weekday at 2 pm. The series also includes a companion lesson collection available on PBS LearningMedia.
