Stage of Discovery

Today the staff of the Alliance had the pleasure of attending Broadway in Black Jr at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe presented by the talented young performers from the Stage of Discovery summer program!

The young performers teach our executive director, Jim Shirley, how to pose on Broadway.

Stage of Discovery is a free intensive musical theater program for local young talent ages 10-18 provided by Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. Participants of the program spend five weeks learning from experienced professionals as they prepare for the culminating performance.

This year, Nate Jacobs adapted his production of Broadway in Black for their final show and these talented young performers rose to the occasion! The singing, dancing and acting was absolutely inspiring and, in true Nate Jacobs fashion, the audience left not only entertained, but also enlightened.

Thank you to the talented staff, Joey James, Myllanna McKinnon, Prof. LaTerry Butler, Jamar Camp, Donald Frison, Renata Eastlick, and Chole Jackson for your dedication to these talented young performers and the future of Sarasota arts. And thank you to all of the supporters that allow this program to remain free for participants.
