Theatre Studio Director (Full-Time)

The Players Centre for Performing Arts is looking to hire a Theatre Studio Director (Full-Time). Reports to: Managing Director, Artistic Director and Director of Operations. Supervises: Director of Dance, Director of Music, Studio faculty, and volunteers. Position Description: The Theater Studio Director manages the education programs for the Players Centre. The Director oversees classes, youth and adult programming and the education calendar. The position is responsible for leading teaching staff and volunteers while incorporating the Players Centre’s mission, vision and policies. Qualifications & Skills needed: The qualifications represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability to perform the job successfully. • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. • Two years of successful teaching/training experience. • Participation and/or knowledge of community theatre. • Management experience or equivalent. • Proficient use of computer products and programs. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to understand and manage budgets. • Good organizational, problem solving and conflict management skills. • Good leadership skills. • Diplomatic, tactful, and customer-focused, with a professional phone manner and ability to interact with staff, patrons, volunteers and clients. • Ability to speak publicly on behalf of The Players at public events if necessary. • Must project a professional and positive image and able to work with all levels of society. • Team-player, flexible, adaptable, personable, and able to work well with others. • Must be able to take direction and fulfill responsibilities under stress or pressure, with minimal direct supervision. • Have the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if necessary. Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week. Fall/Spring Hours: M, Th, Fri, Sat are 9-5:30pm; Tuesday 12-8pm (off Sunday and Wednesday). Summer Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm. Note: Coverage of the entire studio facility is the responsibility of the Theatre Studio Director. If Studio Staff is unavailable to cover, the responsibility falls to the Theatre Studio Director. Salary range: $35,000 – $40,000 annually. Other duties include but not limited to: The following list of duties is appropriate for this position. Other duties may be requested or assigned at various times. • Create and develop education programs for school year, summer camp, Players Kids Program, Certificate Program. • Build a financially successful and sustainable program with a strong achievable strategy. • Achieve the annual goals developed with the Managing and Artistic Directors. • Design innovative children and adult programs, classes and workshops. • Hire (with Directors) and manage teaching staff. Do background checks. • Actively engage instructors in the program development process. • Build and maintain relationships with teachers/staff/contractors. • Select shows and secure performance rights for student productions with Artistic and Managing Director. • Communicate and collaborate effectively with Directors, teaching and technical staff volunteers and students. • Partner and collaborate with staff to develop programs that encompass mission. • Collaborate with Marketing to design and prepare promotional materials. • Raise awareness of the Players Centre through networking at community and organizational functions and community presentation. • Develop and inspire staff with ongoing innovation, support and leadership. • Manage employee relations by resolving performance, conflict and artistic issues. • Register students for classes, workshops and summer camp. • Coordinate technical needs for productions with staff: sets, props, lights, costumes, crew, etc. • Create policies and procedures to ensure safety of children attending all educational activities. • Ensure that all state and federal procedural guidelines are followed. • Report to Managing and Artistic Director as required. • Other duties as recognized and assigned.
