Avenida de Colores is a cultural arts organization that focuses on street art and produces the SARASOTA CHALK FESTIVAL.  The organization is a nonprofit 100% volunteer corporation that is organized for the purpose of providing students with experiences and instruction in the visual and performing arts, and to enrich the community with cultural events. The SARASOTA CHALK FESTIVAL is entering its fifth season with the them "Circus City, USA".  During the third season in 2010 the festival became the first international street painting festival in the United States and one of the most important street painting festivals in the world.  Over 250 professional artists, 100 students and thousands of children participated for free using the street surface as their canvas and chalk as their medium as they turned South Pineapple Avenue into a performance fine art museum.  Last year the 2011 Sarasota Chalk Festival 'Pavement Art through the Ages', traced the evolution from its ancient roots to the innovations that mark its current state with lectures, demonstrations and hundreds of  ephemeral art that has a street value of hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Noted artists Kurt Wenner, Edgar Mueller, Tracy Lee Stum, Leon Keer, Vera Bugatti, Michael Kirby, and many others from around the world will be a part of the magical event that will incorporate the Opera, an Italian festival, a beaten earth traditional image, various performers and lots of chalk and children,
